Splatoon
Description
About Splatoon
Splatoon is a third-person shooter game that emphasizes on online multiplayer. The player controls a human-like character called the Inkling, who can transform into a squid to swim through ink of their own color. Players use this ink to attack other players and cover the ground in their color, which will allow them to move quickly across it. Splatoon has sold nearly 5 million copies and is one of Wii U’s top selling games of all time.
Our Take
What we think about Splatoon
The game features a unique competitive multiplayer mode called "Turf War". In this mode, 8 players compete to cover the most territory with their team's ink. The player can turn into a squid to swim through their team's ink, and can fire ink from a weapon to attack enemies and cover the map with their team's color. The color of ink on a surface can be changed by spreading more of the same color over it, while an enemy covered in one player's ink has reduced mobility and can be splatted. The multiplayer in Splatoon is a blast and will make this a top game to play on the Wii U for hours on end.

Players can choose from a set of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World style graphics and enemies, or use a more modern style. Once a level is completed, the player can share it on the internet for others to play. The game also includes a 10-Mario Challenge, where players can try to complete a series of ten short levels in a row.
Our Take
What we think about Super Mario Maker
To anyone who played the Mario platformers from the early 1990s, Super Mario Maker is a dream come true. With the ability to design your own levels and share them with friends and other players around the world, or just play some of the many fantastic user-created courses that have been created over the years, this is an experience that anyone who grew up with Nintendo can enjoy.
New Super Mario Bros. U
Description
About New Super Mario Bros. U
New Super Mario Bros. U is a 2.5D side-scrolling platform video game released on November 18, 2012, as a launch title for the Wii U console. The game is the first in the Mario franchise to be presented in HD and 3D graphics, and is a direct sequel to its predecessor, New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It features simultaneous multiplayer gameplay as players can control Mario and up to four more characters, though only two can be on-screen at a time.
Our Take
What we think about New Super Mario Bros. U
We are especially fond of the newest New Super Mario U game because it feels like you are playing a 3D game but it plays like a 2D game. With a fun selection of levels and characters, the new release is even more enjoyable than its predecessor. The new “challenge mode” and “boost rush” modes bring an exciting twist to traditional Mario side scrolling action.

Pokkén Tournament
Description
About Pokkén Tournament
Pokkén Tournament is a Pokémon fighting game that's pretty different than other Pokémon games. The game is played with two players facing off against each other, with the game featuring the use of buttons, control sticks, and triggers. The game features 16 playable Pokémon. The game starts with one-on-one battles, but after becoming more experienced, players can compete in three-on-three battles. Players can also play the game using the Wii U GamePad which has a unique interface that mimics playing on a tab.
Our Take
What we think about Pokkén Tournament
Tekken is one of our favorite fighters, so when we heard about the Tekken developers making a Pokkén Tournament spin-off, we were stoked. We really like how the game has a ton of different Pokémon to battle with, all of which are very diverse with their own unique traits and stats. We also like that we can move around freely during battles, which allows for more tactical maneuvering during gameplay. While it's not the all-out brawling Tekken is known for, it has good balance for both hardcore and casual gamers with its variety of gameplay modes.
New Super Luigi U
Description
About New Super Luigi U
Join Mario, Luigi, and Toad on a quest through 84 levels in New Super Luigi U. The game features new playable characters Nabbit and Toadette, new power-ups like the Blue Shell and the Penguin Suit, and new ways to play with Mario's jump, like the P-Acorn power-up. Using these new items will allow you to play levels in ways that are unique to this game.
Our Take
What we think about New Super Luigi U
Originally an expansion to New Super Mario U, New Super Luigi U eventually became a separate game. We love how the game stuck to the base of New Super Mario U and also enjoyed the new gameplay elements such as higher jumps and less precision movements. Since side-scrolling games — especially Mario games — never bore us, we recommend playing New Super Luigi U; just don't expect Mario to turn up to save the day.
