Our Take
What we think about Pokémon Emerald
Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire combined to become the best ever selling games for the Gameboy Advance. Since Emerald was an enhanced version of those two games, we think it deserves to take the top spot as a trio of Pokémon game fun. With over 250 Pokémon to capture, sophisticated gameplay and a deep world, Pokémon Emerald has a lot to offer. It’s easy to overlook the quirks when enjoying the game's improved graphics. At times, it might feel like you're playing the same game that you remember from before, but that feeling goes away when things get more visually appealing. Overall, this is still one of our favorite Pokémon games ever.
Super Mario Advance 2
Description
About Super Mario Advance 2
A classic that never gets old, Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 is a side scrolling platform game originally created by Nintendo in 1990 and re-ported to the Gameboy Advance in 2001. In this game you play as Mario as he travels across the Mushroom Kingdom. In his journey, he must collect coins, find secret areas, and defeat Bowser's henchmen. The graphics are charming and the gameplay is challenging.
Our Take
What we think about Super Mario Advance 2
Although there were four Super Mario Advance ports, Super Mario Advance 2 featured our favorite Super Nintendo classic. Super Mario World offered a vast array of levels and worlds, mixed with challenges fit for gamers of all types. It was exciting to see this classic come to Gameboy Advance, allowing anyone to replay or experience Super Mario World for the first time. Super Mario Advance 2 included all the original levels and gameplay feel. The biggest disappointment was the toned-down difficulty, which made it easier to grind through all the levels.
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Description
About Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is an RPG game for the Gameboy Advance. It is the first game in the Mario & Luigi series. This game is known for humor, voice acting, and art style. The game is set in Beanbean Kingdom, which has been taken over by Cackletta and her minion Fawful. Cackletta has plans to use the Beanstar, a magical object that grants any wishes, in order to take control of the Beanbean Kingdom.
Our Take
What we think about Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Mario and Luigi are taken to the Beanbean Kingdom by The Chuckster. They must collect five pieces of the Beanstar, defeat Wart, and return the royal crown to Queen Pea. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga was arguably our favorite RPG on the Gameboy Advance (sorry Pokémon). It was so much fun that we wish there was a port or sequel on the big screen. The game was incredibly entertaining and catered to the single-player, dual character model very well. Playing alongside his brother Luigi made Mario all the more appealing, due to the puzzles and bosses that were solved together.

Our Take
What we think about Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is one of the best tactical RPGs we've ever played on a handheld device. The game is set in the fantasy world of Ivalice, and follows the story of Marche, a boy who goes back in time to right past wrongs that were done to him. The game has a very deep and complex battle system, with a vast amount of customization. Every unit can be upgraded to learn new skills, and you can equip dozens of different weapons and armor types to each party member. The wide range of different weapon types, spells, skills, and abilities makes this one of the most unique RPGs of the time.
Advance Wars
Description
About Advance Wars
Advance Wars is a turn-based, strategy army-building game where players control military units in order to either capture their opponent's headquarters or destroy all of their opponent's forces. The game is known for its deep and engrossing gameplay and large number of playable COs (Commanders). The game consists of maps divided into hexagonal-shaped tiles, with terrain such as forest, plains, and mountains.
Our Take
What we think about Advance Wars
Advance Wars was one of the first turn-based strategy games since Chess that we actually wanted to play. That’s right, we actually like to play Chess from time to time. The game is set in the fictional nations of Orange Star, Blue Moon, and Yellow Comet where three armies engage in war. You take control of one army and battle against up to two others on a map that is divided into hexagonal spaces. The "Fog of War" feature is one that many gamers loved because it tested their skills in ways that other games don't. Others didn't like this feature, though, since it made the game more difficult to play. We highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a strategic challenge.
